James Gallagher uses collage as a means to communicate ideas and ask questions. Gallagher’s work has hung in galleries around the world and he has curated international collage exhibitions in New York City, Berlin, and Cork County, Ireland. He is represented by Illustration Division, and his art has appeared in publications such as The Yale Review, The Paris Review, Juxtapoz, and The New York Times; and was featured in the HBO Docuseries Sex Diaries as well as Shoppe Object 2024. He is the co-editor of Gestalten’s Cutting Edges: The Art of Contemporary Collage and was the publisher, editor and creative director of the contemporary art magazine Secret Behavior. Gallagher earned a BFA from The School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he lives with his wife and three children.
